A Knitting Grrrrrr

Dear Boston-Area Yarn Shops,

There is no reason that you should not carry size 2 circular needles in bamboo. People *do* actually use them, and some of us have a marked preference for bamboo needles. I *know* I can get (relatively) inexpensive metal ones. If I *wanted* metal, I'd be *asking* for metal. But I want bamboo or some other wood. Only one of the three stores I called even carries size 2s, and they're out.

Yes, I can do my project on double-pointeds. I know that. It doesn't change the fact that what I *want* is the circular.

No love,
The cranky knitter

You can get that sort of button all sorts of places. Simplest in terms of ubiquity of locations is CVS -- many if not all of the larger CVSes have a small section where they have sewing kits and simple buttons. The hardware store on Harvard St. (Aborn Hardware, next door to City Housewares right near the Butcherie) carries some buttons and the like (they started after the Woolworth's that used to be on Harvard went out).

I go to Windsor Button on Temple Place in Downtown Crossing for my more complex button needs, but you should be able to find one without that level of effort. If you cannot, however, I will happily do a Windsor run for you.

ooh, I like that hardware store. I shall go on a button finding mission, and if I *happen* to accidentally fall into City Housewares, all the better!
