Past Polls Followup
I ended up stopping for red thread on my way home on Monday, and then I put said thread to use on Monday night.

mabfan (and, yes, I know he set out to rig my poll). In the end, I didn't actually write anything while I was there. I websurfed for a bit, and then, once the network went down, I ended up browsing the stacks. Because, well, when the network went down, so did the online card catalogue, so I was on my own trying to find stuff. The reference librarians are good and know their stuff, and to some extent they know Dewey by heart, enough to point someone in the right direction, but I wasn't going to play "stump the librarian," so I wandered in and around the stacks until I found one book -- a biography of Oliver Cromwell -- that I felt I wanted to take home with me. And, having chosen a book, I had the added pleasure of a brief shmooze with devoken.
By then it was 9-ish and the library was closing butmabfan's meeting was still going, so I went upstairs to the Trustees' area and sat and knit until the meeting ended.
So, thanks for the guidance on what I should do with my past two evenings. Tonight, I think I know what I'm doing -- after work, I'm getting the mail at the PO, then stopping for veggies, and then going home to make a side dish for Friday dinner (we're going to friends).
And, so far, I have been unable to track down Narf!-colored thread, but I did look for Narf! at the library last night. :-)
