On Friday, MAB and I brought shabbat dinner and shabbat lunch to my parents' in honor of their 38th wedding anniversary (see earlier entry re cooking in the 95 degree heat). We stayed with my parents from Friday afternoon through Saturday night and returned home on Saturday night. A good time was had; much food was consumed.

Yesterday was spent running around doing various things on the 8th day of our local heatwave. This weather isn't normal. Part of yesterday was spent at a meeting of the New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA), and someone said there that the last time we had a summer that was this hot for such an extended period, it was followed by a winter containing the Blizzard of '78. So it's a good thing I've got new snow boots.

Today is day 9 of the heat wave (being defined as more than 3 days of over-90-degree heat). They say it'll break tonight - we'll get rain tonight and temps tomorrow in the 80s. Still hot, but less beastly than it has been.

Last night, we had dinner with recently-married friends. This was a good thing - we've been trying to find a time to see these folks, but between our schedules and theirs, finding a time both couples were available has been difficult.
