The first Rambly Bits post of the year! Yay!

-- I left for work today without my Killer Sheep or my Penguin for Your Telly. Must bring them tomorrow.

-- Also, I realized upon arrival at work today that I'd misremembered, and - in fact - I do not have anything for lunch in my cube. So off to Milk Street I go.

-- Went to a lovely party on Sunday (my sister's in-laws' 40th anniversary party). It's an honor and a privilege to be considered part of that family.

-- The scroll-wheel on my mouse at work is flaking out, and it's driving me nuts. But I don't feel like restarting my machine _again_ just now (I had to do it not 20 minutes ago; that's when the scroll-wheel flaked). Maybe later; it'll depend on how annoyed I get at the lack of wheelability.

-- Got to spend an extra 6 hours with my sort-of cousin on Sunday (ah, the pleasures of a train trip) and got to know her even better. The more I know of her, the more I appreciate her brains, strength, and talent.

-- Even at 2:00 AM, streets in Manhattan are not completely deserted. Less congested, definitely, but still not empty.

-- Had a blast meeting [livejournal.com profile] eal on Monday for lunch. See her journal for a review of "The Michael and Nomi Show." :-)

-- I always enjoy discovering that people I meet because of MAB's writing career actually have an interest in me and actually see me as a person separate from MAB. I know it's silly, but I'm really self-conscious about that.

-- My world gets smaller with each day. An old friend of mine (we've been friends since the summer of 1988) recently joined the Zamir Chorale of Boston. He's a bass, which means his section leader is one of MAB's oldest friends from high school. Not only that, at the aforementioned family party, I discovered that one of my brother-in-law's cousins (not the one of the train trip) is dating one of my coworkers.

-- If scheduling works out, we'll be showing the extended version of "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings" this Saturday night, making it three Saturday nights in a row that we have done so. Silly us.

-- When did being home in time to watch the ball drop on TV on New Year's Eve become a goal? MAB asked me this question last night, and I said "when we got real lives," but I'm not sure that's the whole answer.

-- Every year at New Year's, I remark on the fact that it's nice to have a New Year's celebration that doesn't involve spending 7 hours in synagogue. And no fasting on 3 January or 10 January.
