Fannish-Type Rambly Bits
May. 11th, 2005 08:14 am-- The obituary of Walter Skinner. Like the April notice of the death of Mary Jane (McKearin) Watson, a case of a familiar name in an unexpected place. The Walter Skinner in today's obituary was the judge who presided over the WR Grace case in Woburn (on which the movie "A Civil Action" was based).
-- It's annual benefits enrollment time at my company. This morning, I saw a flyer in the kitchen listing the various categories of benefits that one could enroll for at this time. One of them was "Supplemental AD&D." My first thought was, "are those modules? Or things like the Monster Manual?"
-- Not sure if it counts as fannish, but there was an article in this morning's Boston Globe about 3 new independent bookstores that are trying to make a go at it. I wish them all good luck; I love independent bookstores, and I know it's a real uphill battle to keep one in business.
