Happy birthday, [personal profile] teddywolf!

I hope you have a wonderful year!

So I was out and about on Harvard St. (the center of Jewish shopping in the Boston area) this morning, running various errands (including buying this year's Shabbat times magnet). When I was done, I was near the Butcherie, so I decided to stop in and see if they carried evaporated milk (with Butcherie on the corner by our place, it's not uncommon for me to use Butcherie as my not-as-convenient-hours Store 24 equivalent). I knew that, with it being the last full day before Rosh HaShannah, the Butcherie was going to be a zoo, but I had the time, and I was only looking for one, non-essential item, so I figured I'd drop in and take my chances.

I walked in the door and immediately ran into Craig, the guy in charge of stock at Butcherie. "[personal profile] gnomi!" he said, "You know better!"

"I do," I said. "But I've got some time to kill, so I figured I'd find out if you had any evaporated milk."

"I'm all out," he said.

"OK, then," I said, surveying the crowded aisle and the people coming and going around me. "Be well; I'll probably see you some time after Sukkot."

"Eh, it won't be that long," Craig responded. "Most of these people have never heard of Sukkot."
