Yesterday sort of mid-day,
mabfan texted me. "Can you make me a pan of chocolate chip cookie bars tonight? I need them for work tomorrow, because we're having a cookie and ice cream meeting and everyone's supposed to bring some home-made cookies." Since I am the cook/baker in the household, the baking of said cookie bars falls to me.
"You're gonna help, right?" I asked. "Uh... but, of course!" he replied.
Uh, OK. I can do that. Except that I needed some ingredients, so we stopped at the store on the way home (butter and chocolate chips are both vital ingredients for chocolate chip cookie bars). Ingredients all in hand, we set about making the cookie bars. I make this recipe a lot, so I did the measuring, and
mabfan did the mixing of the ingredients. We then let them bake (as we watched last night's Lost), and I cut them this morning and put them in a container for
mabfan to take to work.
At about 3:30 this afternoon,
mabfan called me. "We won! You won!"
I... what?
Well, it turns out that part of this cookie-and-ice-cream meeting involved a bake-off amongst the bakers of the various cookies brought in. And after a run-off vote, the cookie bars
mabfan provided won.
Which netted me a gift card to Starbucks. Something to drink with the cookie bars, I figure. :-)
