Rambly Bits: The Sequel

gnomiThings tumbling around my brain:
-- Too many of my friends have been laid off recently. I don't like it. I wish them all good and swift luck in finding new, better employment.
-- I've been in a Jewish/Israeli music mood a lot recently. If anyone has recommendations of CDs, let me know.
-- What does it say when all the staff - from the waitstaff to the deli staff to the greeters to the owner - at the local restaurant know you by name and bring you what want to drink before you even finish taking off your coat?
-- I have a great affinity for penguins at the moment, partially related to the fact that I, too, am spending a lot of time standing on ice floes (actually, I'm usually fond of penguins, but right now I think I'm identifying with them more than usual).
-- Even with the extra month, Pesach seems to be creeping up on me sooner than I expected.
-- Having cool science-related things to do (see http://www.newscientist.com/hottopics/cafescientifique/) is just way cool for this geek girl.
