gnomi: (thinker)
[personal profile] gnomi
MAB and I planned our 4th of July Weekend around what has now become a tradition: going to the Old State House in Boston to hear a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts read the Declaration of Independence, followed by a viewing of 1776. This year, we got a bunch of our friends (including [personal profile] zmook and [personal profile] farwing) to join us. After 1776, we showed some episodes of Sports Night - not particularly patriotic, but quite fun.

After dropping [personal profile] zmook and [personal profile] farwing at Alewife and at a friend's party, respectively, MAB and I headed off to Burlington to spend lots of money at Barnes and Noble shabbat with my parents and to revel in my parents' recently-installed central air conditioning. Shabbat was quite lovely and restful. Saturday night, MAB and I saw The Hulk at the Burlington movie theater and exited the theater after midnight to find that it was still over 70 and humid. So back to the central AC we went. :-)

On Sunday, we celebrated a postponed Father's Day (as we'd been at Buffycon and on the Slocum walking tour the weekend of actual Father's Day). After we left my parents' home, we headed back to our place, where we spent most of the rest of the day parked in front of the air conditioner in the living room (I worked on editing MAB's newest completed story; MAB typed in LOCs for Burstzine). We ventured out briefly on various errands, but for the most part stayed close to home.

So, not the most exciting holiday weekend, but we enjoyed it, and I think that's what counts most, right?
