Holiday-Themed Rambly Bits
Dec. 23rd, 2003 09:34 am-- Chanukah is upon us. Yule just passed. Christmas is fast approaching. As is the New Year. For those who celebrate, whatever your winter seasonal celebration of choice, I hope it is a happy and healthy season.
-- A (mostly rhetorical) question: what would prompt a company to sell non-kosher Channukah-themed chocolate?
-- I was very earnestly wished "Merry Christmas" this morning by a commuting buddy of mine. Now, she knows I miss work for the Jewish holidays. And we live in a very Jewish neighborhood. I wonder if she's just not sure what else to wish me at this time of year.
-- We're off to NYC for a little over a week, leaving tomorrow afternoon; I'll be checking in when possible while we're away.
-- Seeing guys in shorts in Boston 2 days before Christmas is quite disconcerting. It's in the high 40s. That, too, is disconcerting.
-- The radio station I listen to (WOXY out of Cincinnati, OH) has been playing Christmas songs performed by, among others, Weezer, The Pogues, Coldplay, and Jet. It's amusing...especially when they're songs I'm much more used to hearing the traditional versions of.
