Don't know why this just came to me; blame the cleaning fumes, OK?

How topical is a topical anesthetic, anyway? Can you buy them to tie in with any current news item? Or do they morph depending on what current events dictate? So, for instance, can I buy an anesthetic against the pain of the upcoming Red Sox season?
