...theworld.com is down, and therefore I haven't been able to access any mail sent me there since about 10:30 last night. If there's something I need to know sooner rather than later, please e-mail me at gnomi (at) sff (dot) net; I have some faith that World will come back sometime today, but I'm not at all confident it will be before shabbat.

And, today is the 10th day of the Omer.

ETA: World has gotten over itself and is now accessible again. However, I have no idea if e-mail sent between 2 AM and 7:30 AM EDT today will ever arrive. So, if you sent something during that window, please resend.

Ok, that's three days of curiousity. What's the Omer?

The Omer is the 49 day period between the second day of Passover through the holiday of Shavuot. The Omer is also the name of the grain offering brought during that 49 day period during the time of the Temple in Jerusalem. It is counted nightly for those 49 days, as Jewish "days" start at night.

That's weird... I was online sending and receiving mail 'til about 3 a.m., and I received mail timestamped between 3 and 7. Maybe it was an intermittent fluke?
