OK, so I've started listening to WFNX online at work (thanks again, [personal profile] tsuki_no_bara!) And they were just a minute ago running an ad for the OnStar system. As the ad progressed, it turns out that the call is to OnStar because a woman has *run her car into a house*. Yes, a house. A woman with her kids in the car has crashed into a house. And in the ad, the guy on the phone from OnStar treats it like this happens every day.

Is it just me that finds this odd?

where I grew up it's surprisingly common. As in, in twenty years it happened more than five times.

Did you grow up in that car-eating house the Daily Show did an interview with?

My in-laws' house in DC has been in two auto accidents. It all depends on how the streets are arranged, really. And there are a lot of careless drivers out there. (As I found out in today's rain and flooding in central NJ.)

Are you sure it wasn't intended to be silly? (I haven't heard it so I can't say.)

It was completely serious. That's what made me boggle.

Was it her own house? 'Cause that happened a lot where I grew up. People would somehow not notice that the garage door was down, & they'd drive right through it. I never got it, but some people are just dumb like that. For real, people, how can you not notice the garage door is down? It's big! And closed!

I live in New York. It wouldn't even make the news.
