Today, I signed up with Brookline Adult & Community Education for driver's education -- classroom and driving time. Being run by Pleasant Auto School in (I think) Revere, the classes are being held at Brookline High School (which is nicely T accessible). I start in early February.

Wish me luck...

Good for you! That's still on my list of things to do one of these days... let me know how it is for you.

Good for you!

Thanks!

let me know how it is for you.

I shall. BA&CE apparently has them all the time, so if I have a good experience with them, they might be a good venue for you to explore.

I'm wishing you much good luck. Learning to drive is something I've never managed, so please let me know how the classes go. I know that I should...

If you want to do additional practice time, let me know. I have wheels, and I promise I won't yell or white-knuckle.

And I just might take you up on that offer...I'll let you know when it becomes a real thing (like, February-March-ish). Thanks so much!

Good for you!

(I assume driving will be in a car with automatic transmission. If you want to learn to drive stick at some point, let me know.)

And, yeah -- the driving school says they teach automatic. At some point, I'd like to learn to drive stick, but since our car is automatic, it's not a major priority.

Best of luck! Out of curiosity, why _FEBRUARY_? Couldn't you wait until the snow/ice/snowbanks melted?

Thanks!

And as to why February, 'cause my choices were Nov-Dec-Jan or Feb-Mar-Apr. Snow either way, and in Feb-Mar-Apr, it's beginning to be light at night. And none of the class nights run into Purim/Pesach/other Y"T worries.

And it means that you'll have experience dealing with bad conditions as well as the good, which is great.

Excellent! I've actually been wondering where that wound up, but didn't want to ask. I'm sure you'll be fine - there are several people in our gang who learned to drive recently, remember.

If you need someone to ride shotgun while you practice, and/or offer hopefully-useful advice, let me know...

I was stymied by lack-of-local-driving-school-that-speaks-English. But now I'm back on track.
