It has come to our attention that the SciFi Channel is skipping episodes of "Stargate Atlantis" in its rebroadcast of season 1 before season 2 begins. As [personal profile] mabfan and I are completists when it comes to our genre television, we were wondering if any of you out there might have tapes of season 1 eps that we could borrow. The episodes they've skipped or may be skipping are:

-- Thirty-Eight Minutes
-- Childhood's End
-- Poisoning the Well
-- The Eye (this one is particularly galling, because they broadcast the first half of this two-parter ("The Storm") but skipped this one, the resolution)
-- The Brotherhood
-- Letters from Pegasus
-- The Gift
-- The Siege Part 1
-- The Siege Part 2

I have 38 Minutes and Childhood's End as .avi and Eye as a .rmvb if you want to play them on your computer.

Tapes? What are tapes? :-)

I think we're going to try for videotapes from [livejournal.com profile] terri_osborne, who posted below. The problem with .avi and .rmvb is that we can't watch them on our TV set, so we can't really sit down together to watch the episodes.

However...any port in a storm. Is there an easy way to get "The Eye" in .avi quickly so we can see the cliffhanger resolution? (Get it? A port in a storm? "The Eye" is the sequel to "The Storm?" Oh, never mind.)

I think I have all of those burned to DVD, so I can make tapes if you need them. I may be missing "Poisoning the Well", but I honestly can't remember right now.

For the record: "Sanctuary" is playing June 17, "Before I Sleep" (IMO, an excellent Weir episode) is playing June 24, and considering they've got two more Fridays for repeats before part 3 of "The Siege" on 15 July, I'm guessing they'll do parts 1 and 2 of "The Siege" on 1 and 8 July.

Let me know, and I'll get some blank videotapes. :)

Hmmm...can you make DVD copies of the episodes? Because we can play those as well.

However, if DVD is not an option, then we'd appreciate it if you would get some blank VHS videotapes, make copies, and send them. We'll pay you for the cost, of course.

Thanks for the information on "Sanctuary" and "Before I Sleep." We didn't ask for them because according to the Magrathea/SFTV Web Pages run by Lee Whiteside, the Sci-FI Channel plans to broadcast "Hot Zone," "Sanctuary," and "Before I Sleep" in the coming weeks. As for "The Siege" (popular title, isn't it?), our guess is the same as yours, even though it hasn't been officially announced yet.

I'm not sure if we can do DVDs from these, as they were burned to DVD-RW, which only the recorder and our computers will play, but I'll try.

If I can't manage that, I'll get videotapes. :)

Terri, it now looks like the Sci-Fi Channel is showing all the remaining episodes on Friday July 8th, so we won't need the tapes after all. However, if you have started taping already, we will be happy to pay you back for any tapes you made.

I was just about to e-mail you and ask where to send the tapes. Don't worry about it. I'm glad you're going to see them. :)

Don't ditch the tapes yet, though...

The episodes are being broadcast on the Friday of Readercon weekend (for you, I believe that's called Shore Leave weekend), so we're worried that the TiVo may not have room to save them all weekend for us. We shall let you know...

Weird. Do we know why they're skipping them?

Because they don't have time in the off-season to show all of them if they go once a week, is my guess.

I have AVIs of the whole season, none of which I've watched yet so I can't vouch for their quality.
