-- Oh, cooler weather, how I adore thee. Please stay (though, alas, I know you cannot).

-- With [personal profile] mabfan still out of town, I'm off to Chez Parental Units for Shabbat (I've been known to refer to my ancestral homestead *cough* as "Chez Anything" or "Chez What"). This will be the fifth Shabbat in six that I will have been somewhere other than home (in chronological order: Contata, Newton, Readercon, home, New York, Parentals')

-- Why is it that Google caches my searches on my home machine but not on my work machine? Home machine is an iMac G4 laptop running 10.3.whoknows. Work machine is a Dell running XP with SP2. I'd like my home machine to stop caching searches, thank you kindly, but I cannot figure out what to do to make it do so. (by "caching searches" I mean that when I type in a search string, it prompts me with past search strings beginning with the same letters.)

-- I've been wearing my contact lenses every day since Monday. I used to wear them all the time, but then I had a bad sinus attack and putting them in was a pain, so I stopped. With the broken-glasses incident in New York, I gained a new appreciation of my contacts and am therefore wearing them more often again. It's been odd wearing them -- since I wear bifocals, I wear reading glasses with my contacts (yeah, I know that bifocal/progressive contact lenses exist; I'm happier with the regular contacts and reading glasses. And the bifocal contacts are twice as expensive, if not more, than my regular contacts). I also am very light-sensitive with my contacts, so I have a pair of sunglasses. And I carry my glasses with me in case I need to take my lenses out in the middle of the day. So there are now three eyeglass cases in my backpack (I have 3 pairs of reading glasses -- one at work, one at home, and one in my backpack for reading on the bus/subway).

-- Dinosaur is a clear winner over Dinah Shore, 23-4.

It's not Google, it's your browser. (Presumably Safari, on the Mac.)

See Preferences:AutoFill; it's under "other forms". You can uncheck that (which will turn off autofill in a lot of places, not just Google) or use the Edit button to delete the saved Google form autofill data.

Cool, thanks. I figured it was browser-related (and, yes, it's Safari). I'll delete the Google stuff from the AutoFill.
