-- This is my month of flail, what with all the mid-week Jewish holidays. I'm around but not. Please assume, for the month of October, that I am woefully behind in e-mail and reading LJ, and please do not take it as a slight if I don't comment/reply with anything approaching timeliness.

-- Work is flail inducing: deadline at month-end, right after the end of the holidays, plus -- as a bonus -- my division is being sold (again).

-- Beta Reader Appreciation Day (BRAD) is 13 October. Usually, I'd post something then, thanking all those who have beta-read for me. However, this year it falls on Yom Kippur. This from last year applies just as much this year. I thank you all and apologize that I will not be able to recognize you on the appointed day.

-- I thought of a title (probably funny to no more than 5 people on my friends list) for an Israeli musical: Poogy and Bess

-- Anyone know of any good patterns for hand-knitting gloves? I've done mittens and fingerless gloves, and now I'd like to try fingered gloves, but I can't find any good patterns online. I have a book coming to the library for me, though.

-- Muscle memory is a fascinating thing. Since I broke my glasses in NYC, I've been wearing my contact lenses to work almost every day. Last Thursday was Tzom Gedaliah, and since I wasn't drinking any water, I didn't want to put my lenses into more-dehydrated-than-usual eyes. Since I wear bifocals, I wear reading glasses with my contacts when I'm doing computer work, but I can't really see when wearing my reading glasses. I found myself removing my glasses whenever I was planning to get up from my desk, since my muscles know that that's a precursor to, say, going to pick things up off the printer.

:-)

I blame [personal profile] gilana and [personal profile] arib, both of whom recently mentioned "Yo-Ya" in some context or other.

Knitty.com has a variety of knitted gloves in their archives. It's an all-around great site, too.

(Kuroshii introduced me to you. We actually met briefly at Torcon in Boston. I'm pleased to learn that you are a fellow knitter. ::grin::)

I found two patterns for gloves at knitty, neither of which is a complete fingered-glove pattern. I took both of them, though, 'cause one looks neat (the fingerless-glove-with-mitten flap one) and one looks like I can adapt it to be full-fingered gloves (the "cigar gloves" one).

Thanks for the tip!

And I'm one of those knit-any-free-minute knitters. I love it.

You meant Noreascon, I presume...

They've been sold again??? Wow, you can make a collage from your business cards... I really hope there isn't any negative fallout!
