I;m kind of curious about that last one...

It's Alda's autobiography, and it just came out in April or so. It's a fascinating look at his life. He's got such a weird personal history, and he talks open and candidly about a lot of things.

I recommend it.

Alan Alda was on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson talking about it, right about when it first came out. My curiosity is piqued as well. Too much else to "slog" through first, though, among the overflowing narrow bookcase of unread books I already own...I'm guessing by the time I'm ready (so to speak) it will be in trade paperback, which is more financially viable for me anyway.

It's a good book to read in bits and pieces -- there's something like 20 or 25 essays in the book, each of which is relatively short. We took it out of the library to make it much more financially viable. :-)

Knit One Kill Two - that's a wonderful title. Dude.

It's a fluffy mystery in which a number of the characters are knitters. And there are recipes and a knitting pattern in the back of the book, too.

She's got a sequel coming out in December.

It's a great series. [personal profile] sdelmonte recommended it, and then [personal profile] mabfan bought the available trades. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Take the Cannoli is a collection of essays by Sarah Vowell, who is a contributor to NPR's "This American Life." It's quite a lot of fun.

I've heard a lot of good buzz about Fables but haven't actually read any; should I? (I am a near-rabid PS238 fan, though.)

Fables is a good read (if somewhat adult in subject matter). I'm enjoying it a lot.

And we got hooked on PS238 after a recommendation from [profile] twitch124. A very fun book.

Do you mean adult as in serious and reflective, or adult as in violent and/or graphic?

We have all the PS238 issues, but somehow we seem to be buying the collections anyway...

It's somewhat violent and somewhat graphic. There are bits that make one think, for sure, but there's also a lot more violence and sexual content than one might expect in a comic about fairy-tale characters.

Sounds like it may not be my cup of tea, then... too bad.

Have you been reading Girl Genius?
