...the day of Thespis the Ghost.

On this day, it is said, he wreaks playful havoc with stage performances.

A couple of years ago, mabfan and I attended a show ("Pirates of Penzance" at MIT) on Thespis' day. And havoc was, indeed, wreaked. Sets not set properly, a broken piccolo, and a falling follow-spot are the things I recall from the evening.
