Post-Arisia Post I
Jan. 16th, 2006 03:47 pmBack from Arisia; back in the office. I'm a very sleeeeeeeepy
gnomi, but the con was most excellent. Some brief points; I'll post a longer con wrapup when I've acquired additional working brain cells.
1. It was wonderful to see everyone I saw this weekend. Hugs, virtual or real, to all of you.
2. My panels went well. I got many compliments on the one on Sapir-Whorf (which I moderated). They put the panel in a small room (which, given that it was a somewhat obscure topic for an SF convention and on Friday at 6 PM, made sense) and the room was overflowing. Other panels also went well. More on all this later.
3. I was touched and amazed by the number of people who showed up to wish me well on my (upcoming) birthday. Many, many people all in one place; lots of people from different segments of my life got to meet each other and intermingle. Only one item got left behind. Many generous people gave me gifts; I shall be writing thank-you notes this week.
4. One gift was wrapped and contained no card. I have no clue who gave me the lovely book, and I therefore cannot properly thank them. So if you gave me, or know who gave me, ReMemory: The Art of Bill Koeb, please do let me know.
5. Party finally broke up at about 1:15 AM, and we then cleaned up and fell into bed at about 2. Got up at 8:30 to bring stuff back home before
mabfan's noon panel on Sunday. Lack of sleep means lack of brain. After more sleep, there will be more brain. And then there will be a more coherent post.

Date: 2006-01-18 02:37 pm (UTC)I am quite fond of hippos, actually. And many, many of them would be quite fun. Though they'd take up quite a bit of space. :-)
