This is why we don't plant trees on Tu B'shvat in my neck of the woods. Not only is the ground frozen, more often than not you have to dig under the snow to even find the frozen ground.

But mabfan and I are staying in, watching it snow, and staying warm. So it's a good day.

what about planting Things That Aren't Trees, since (as you explained) it's the start of the Plant Life Year just that it has the name of trees.

the frozen ground of february is perfect for flowering bulbs, like daffodils and lilies.
