Good Music for a Good Cause
May. 30th, 2007 11:41 amAbout a week or so after the tragedy at Virginia Tech, a bunch of folks from universities around Virginia got together and put together a two-CD set to raise money for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund. That CD, For Today We are All Hokies (available for purchase at that link), has proven to be a magnificent success, selling out the first pressing and triggering a second pressing of an additional 1,000 copies. I received mine last week (I preordered when I first learned of it), and I'm enjoying it mightily.
Following on the success of the first CD set, the same folks are now accepting orders for a second CD, this one a joint venture between professional and collegiate a cappella groups. Hokie Nation (can be purchased at that link) features collegiate groups from outside Virginia and professional groups including Take 6, Rockapella, The House Jacks, and Cadence.
So, if you like a cappella music, give the samples on the CD sites a listen and see what you think. If you like, consider buying one or both.
(This LJ has no connection to the producers of these CDs other than
gnomi being a fan of a cappella music.)
