gnomi: (yeshiva_stewart)
-- Congratulations to the Boston Celtics on their winning the NBA championship (that's professional US basketball, for those who don't follow these things). It's been 22 years (I was in high school for the last one), and the team's been through a lot in that time.

-- The Celtics' win makes me think of two women from my past: my high school social studies teacher, Mrs. Kaufman, and Shirley, who was the office secretary for New England Young Judaea. Both were major Celtics fans, and both were following the last run to the championship very closely. I remember being at the Boston-area celebration of Israel's Independence Day on the Esplanade and Shirley sitting on the grass in a lawn chair, listening to a transistor radio because she may have had to be at the rally, but she was *not* going to miss the game.

-- Relatedly, who opened the Stupid box and let all the Stupid out? Didn't anyone learn *anything* from Pandora? I'm mostly afraid of what might be at the bottom of the Stupid box. I'm looking at you, rioting fans.

-- An official Jewish tartan has been announced (thanks, [profile] madknits, for the heads-up). My first thought for a clan? MacAbee.

-- I'm continuing the "decaffeinate [personal profile] gnomi" project (ongoing for about 5 years, this is one of the last steps). I've now started drinking decaf coffee more often, but I feel odd just making a pot of decaf when come into the office in the morning. So now I make *two* pots -- one decaf, very clearly marked as such, and one regular. Because the last thing a caffeine-deprived codemonkey wants is stealth decaf.
