Another Conversational Snapshot
Apr. 17th, 2006 09:59 amOn Wednesday erev Pesach,
mabfan and I went up to Maine to be with the family for the sedarim and Shabbat. And since my parents live between us and Maine, we stopped there for lunch so that we could convoy up to Maine. And while we were at my parents', my mother gave me a black brimmed hat that looks almost but not quite like this, saying she'd bought it in Israel for herself but it turned out to be a bit too big. But what with the volume of hair I put under my hat, she figured it might fit me. So I tried it on and asked
mabfan what he thought.
"You look like Perchik," he said.
We determined that this was not a bad thing, just an observation, and I accepted the gift of hat and wore it up to Maine.
I didn't wear the hat over Yom Tov or Shabbat, since it's more sporty than I wear for Shabbat and Y"T in general, but I put it on again on Sunday. And on Sunday mid-day, we were sitting with my father and
estherchaya and others when Abba and I have the following conversation:
Abba: You know, I like that hat on you.
Me:
mabfan says it makes me look like Perchik
Abba: What?
Me:
mabfan says it makes me look like a Russian radical.
Abba: Your hat makes you look like Mendelevium?
