A Night in the Library

mabfan has a Library Trustees meeting tonight and, as is common for me on nights such as this, I am working in the library during his meeting. Having a night set aside on a monthly basis for (a) writing in a quiet place with few distractions (OK, well, there's lots of distractions in the form of books, but I have learned not to follow the shiny) and (b) doing all the research I need to do for whatever I'm working on is quite a lovely thing.

So tonight, I've got the following books piled up next to me:

• The Complete Woodworker
  
• Carpentry for Residential Construction
  
• The Home-Owner's Guide to Carpentry and Cabinetry

I also have A Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English by Eric Partridge in my stack of books, since I am editing a novel for which I needed to check the age of various terms.

These are joining Lise Meitner: A Life in Physics in the list of books I will have out of the library. It amuses me to consider what sorts of results I would get if the library were to do suggestions the way that Amazon does.
