gnomi: (crankiness)

So, beginning at 8:47 last night, we had an 8-hour power out.

If I sound like a blithering idiot today, this is why. While [personal profile] mabfan slept, I pondered the meaning of life, the universe, everything, and why the neighbors felt compelled to discuss the power out, loudly, in the middle of the night. And why NSTAR's truck sounds like a freight train at 4:25 AM (two hours after they told us the power would be back). And why the characters in my head won't shut up. And what they would do in a power out. And the joys of a light breeze coming in through the open window. And why turning off my alarm clock when the power came back on was a good thing (well, because while it has a battery backup, it had gained half an hour, and it would've woken me at 5:45 instead of 6:15). And why the answering machine didn't beep when it came back on, as it usually does. Or maybe it did and the clamor of the NSTAR truck drowned it out. And whether getting up at 4:52 AM to turn on the air conditioner is a reasonable course of action. And whether putting my glasses on would be a help or a hindrance. And whether I'd actually wake up for work if I didn't have my alarm set (I did wake up, without the alarm)...

So, yeah. Thinky over night leads to no thinking today.

Brain gone; come back tomorrow. :-)

Nothing like a power outage during a massive heatwave to encourage restful nights. *gives you the rest of the day off*

(Might want to clear that with the boss, tho. Not all companies are yet aware that I am, in fact, in charge of the entire universe)

And thank you about the kind words about Tuesday's Rubies. That made my day!

And what would they do when the power is out?

Leads to whole interesting subset of questions.

You both have my deepest sympathies. I do not do well in the heat, either. What little brain I have oozes away.
