I'm editing a story for a (British) friend, and she has asked me what the American English term is for an en-suite bathroom. And, y'know, I can't think of one. I know exactly what she means by an en-suite bathroom, but I can't think of another term for it. But I'm assuming there is a term in American English for a bathroom that is attached to the bedroom and for which you don't have to exit into the main hallway.

Anyone have any ideas?

"Master bathroom", and it only applies to private homes. We *assume* all hotel rooms have bathrooms, so it's *just* "the bathroom".

"Master bath" is close but not quite what you want. Or at least, I'm used to the idea that a house has one master bath, though it might have other bedrooms with attached bathrooms.

Attached bath, perhaps?
