On Saturday night, [personal profile] kalessin (I think) mentioned this site (and I promised to post the link), which is the homepage of a number of guerrilla knitters. They tag places with knitted objects, and they've done so in Arizona, California, Maryland, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Washington, and internationally in France and China.

I'm not sure if it's vandalism or public art...

Somewhere there's a group of guerilla gardeners, who go plant flowers in abandoned urban space. Just knowing that this exists makes me very happy.

We have a big guerilla knitting community in Seattle, and they've done some wonderful things. The way some of their pieces have been executed in Seattle, I'm leaning toward art myself.

Sweet, dude! Supersweet! Also the first good excuse I've seen for those ginormous needles they're selling nowadays...

As the objects can be easily removed with a pair of scissors if one so chooses, I call it art. Vandalism tends to require heavy chemicals and lots of elbow grease.

Do you know the picture book Miss Rumphius, by Barbara Cooney? The title character does just that.

No! I didn't. But now that I do I shall immediately get a copy, as that would compound my joy in the concept. THank you so much for the rec :)

I tried e-mailing you something and it bounced... has your address changed?

My address hasn't changed in a while (though World is less than reliable if you're trying me there, the address is still valid). Try [my login here]@[my firstname my lastname].com.
