Yup, it's George Takei's character's car.
And I figure that if it's a nod to the Trek fans, they figured that more would recognize the Enterprise's call sign than the Excelsior's. And they're probably right. :-)

Bwahaha! That's awesome.
And yeah, I'd say that Enterprise is much more recognizable than Excelsior... Sulu only had it for one movie, after all.
