Next week, I'm going to be attending Arisia, a local science fiction convention, and I will be a participant in a panel called "Livejournal and Other Blogs." Over dinner last night, MAB and I were discussing the phenomenon of LJ (see
mabfan's most recent entry regarding how many LJers we encountered in the course of yesterday), and we got onto the topic of people who have found us and "friended" us without our having publicized the whereabouts of our LJs. So that got me to thinking - how have people found my journal?
And that is the thrust of this survey. Anyone who reads this post, please tell me how you found my journal. Do I know you personally? If so, did I tell you that I had an LJ? Were you one of the people who convinced me to start an LJ? Did you find me through a mention in someone else's LJ (and, if so, who)? Or did you find me some other way?

Date: 2003-01-10 07:27 am (UTC)I might have been reading my friends-of-friends page at the time, or I might have poked my head in after seeing that you were a friend of multiple friends. Don't remember now. Anyway, when I got to your profile page I saw that we had some common interests, and when I read the journal I saw that (1) it was well-written and entertaining and (2) you are related to a good (non-LJ) friend, and all of this got me to start reading your journal.

Date: 2003-01-10 08:01 am (UTC)I knew you before. I think I found your journal through weredeer's, but I'm not sure. I definitely read a comment from you in the journal of someone we mutually know.
Let's see...
