In reverse chronological order of how long I've been working on them...
I.
"Selicha, adoni..." a voice said behind me, and just from hearing that, I knew two things: the speaker was not a native born Israeli, and he was relatively new to the country.
II.
I stood outside of my building for a moment, trying to figure out if there was any way I could avoid going upstairs.
III.
I couldn't tell at first what woke me, but then I heard the sound again. Banging in the kitchen.
IV.
At the time, while I was writhing in pain, I never would’ve agreed if you’d told me that falling out of a tree and breaking my leg would turn out to be the best thing that had happened to me in a long time.
V.
"Oy," I said, flopping down -- still fully dressed in my tux -- on the bed. "That was one amazing wedding."
...and I'm going to stop there, because going further back to abandoned WIPs just distresses me.
