So, I have acquired from [personal profile] magid a cone of what is speculated to be a wool-mohair blend, fingering- or sport-weight (it knits up at 7 stitches per inch on US 2s) yarn. There's estimated to be about 1,000 yards (if not more) on the cone. Now, I could knit multiple pairs of gloves or multiple pairs of socks, but I'm not sure. So, I appeal to the knitters (and others) reading this. What should I knit out of it? Its color is close to the Beige Meliert here.

Links to free online patterns always accepted, but general categories are good, too. :-)

I found the way to search on Knitty patterns using a keyword, like this:

search for fingering

With a thousand yards, you really should do something major, like a sweater!

I've got this feathers-and-fan scarf (http://www.knitpicks.com/+Lace+1%2c+2%2c+3%3a+Shadow+Scarf_PD50478222.html) in fingering-weight alpaca (I think I showed it to you at EPIC) on needles, and that's plenty of lace for me for now. :-)

But a sweater may be possible with this much yarn. Thanks!

I am currently into lace in a big way. I have some patterns for rectangular stoles that you could borrow, if you don't find anything free you like.

I've done a lot of lacework (I've got this (http://www.knitpicks.com/+Lace+1%2c+2%2c+3%3a+Shadow+Scarf_PD50478222.html) on needles right now) recently. But I'd love to see patterns at some point, as I know I'll want to do other lace projects in the future (I figure one slow lace project at a time is sufficient).

Oh, don't forget the possibility of using it doubled. You have so much of it, you could get a nice scarf or a couple hats out of it.

Heh.

It would not at all surprise me to find a rocket ship pattern in one of my knitting books.

A mohair suit, to go with your electric boots?
Or did I read that in a magazine?
