Silly Waterfowl!
Jan. 17th, 2003 12:16 pmI'm sitting here in my cube in Kendall Square, Cambridge, which overlooks the Charles River Basin. The basin's been frozen all week (or, mostly frozen. About 65-70% of the surface of the basin is ice, the remaining 30-35% is still flowing as water). And as of this morning, there's about 1/2 inch of snow on top of the ice. And yet the ducks (and seagulls) come. They fly in, sit on the ice, and then eventually fly away. Don't they know they're not going to be able to find anything?
