My calendar has "Father's Day," but to me, that connotes that it is a day belonging to one Father. I would be fine with either "Fathers" or "Fathers'," but the possessive makes more sense to me here. I'd look up whether the other version is called "attributive," but I have a cat on my lap, and I'm too cheap for CMOS online.
Anyway, I prefer "user group" by a slight margin for the completely subjective reason that it sounds better to me. But again, if I were editing something that had either "users" or "users'," I'd leave it.
I note that lj calls it "Friends View" and "Friends Page."
Canceled is an interesting word. It depends upon the stress. In England, the stress is more on the penultimate syllable rather than the prepenultimate syllable hence requiring an extra 'l'. This is true with many other words. As you know, where the accent lives causes the letter to double in order to prevent short vowels from becoming long.

I asked the 4 years old of a friend of mine "Can you say Red Sox Baseball?". He responded "No."
I'm worried he's going to be a Yankee fan :(
