gnomi: (exhausted_monkey)
[personal profile] gnomi
Last night, [personal profile] mabfan and I cohosted a sheva berachot with our friends S&J for friends J&A, who got married on Sunday. The event was at the home of S&J, and it was a success. S and I made probably twice the amount of food necessary, but she and I both have the philosophy that it's better to have too much food than not enough. And, in the end, I ended up with Shabbat dinner all set (pasta salad, roasted-marinated green beans, and brownies).

M and I arrived at chez S&J around 6:30 (with the event called for a start time of 8 PM) and met J-the-groom's parents (who were staying at chez S&J). We then ran around and set up food and places to put food and things off of which people would eat food and drink beverages, and I was just finishing up the setting out the brownies on a platter when people started to arrive.

Things went well, people had a good time, and food was consumed. A d'var torah was given by one of the guests, and the bentching was led by another guest.

(From the OU: The seven blessings said under the chuppah and then repeated at the sheva berachot.)

And tomorrow we go to not-our-shul for the aufruf of another friend, for whom and whose wife-to-be the same crew who did *this* sheva berachot will be throwing a sheva berachot in two weeks.
