-- It's so weird being in the office on a Thursday. I'm just saying.

-- I'm very bad at not working while eating lunch at my desk. I have to get better about that.

-- Apples in New England in the fall are wonderful. ::CRUNCH::

-- This weekend we've got a problem: we've got baseball in Boston in October, but it's the week of Parshat Noach (the week in which we read the Torah portion about the story of Noah), and it almost always rains for Parshat Noach.

-- At Young Israel on Yom Kippur, people were asking me, "So... how's your planet?" It's been a year since the article, but people still ask.

-- Note to chick-what-packed-our-leftovers: writing "chicken" on the top of the carryout container as an identifier of the contents is not so helpful when both of us had chicken leftovers.

-- I work well with deadlines. Really I do. But do I really need *three* between 12 October and 24 October? I think not. And that's just my work-work deadlines. Freelance deadlines are an entirely different animal altogether ("They're an entirely different animal.")

-- In the end, I *did* end up getting the Nine action figure. He's standing next to Ten, with Jack on Ten's other side (and, as it happens, Daniel Jackson standing behind them holding a zat gun).

-- What does it mean when someone writes something one way in a manuscript and then votes the opposite way in my polls?

-- I'm knitting another Dalek. This one will be beige with black Dalek bumps.

-- Is a Dalek bump anything like the Colbert bump?

-- I'm pondering doing an Erev Shabbat Jewish Blogging post about the difference between work and melacha (the categories of "work" disallowed on Shabbat).

It means I'm CREATIVE damn it! Also, going with fewer. Also, also, noted that in the comment :D Re the poll I mean.

*hides*

::snerk::

While you were the immediate cause for the question (and that ms. the immediate prompter for the poll itself), you're not the only one, and this isn't the only ms.

You and Ms. Payne have prompted similar polls in the past. But, really, it's not just you two. BA prompts them, too, as does Sean.

they're not paying attention?

you could knit a whole fleet of daleks to menace both doctors and jack! and daniel, i guess. i wonder if a zat gun would work on them.... the daleks, i mean, not nine and ten and jack.

Hmm... I wonder if, for the Daleks, they'd bring back the "three shots disintigrates" thing that they got rid of in SG-1 after a while.

I don't know what a Colbert bump is, but the phrase "Dalek bumps" is forever linked in my mind with Jonathan Pryce and CURSE OF FATAL DEATH.

Stephen Colbert claims that any candidate that appears on his show gets a bump in the polls. Thus, the Colbert bump.

I'll have to ask Michael whether Curse of Fatal Death is on his "[personal profile] gnomi must watch" list. :-)

"Fascinating..."

Pointed at Jack of course. Just in case he tries anything.

They have a future in politics. Or a past in politics. Or even a present in politics. :)

Actually, at the moment it's pointed at Nine, but I think that's just random.

Difficult to parse. Does this mean that you currently do work at your desk during lunch, and you think you should be taking more of a break? Or that you goof off while eating lunch, when you think you should be working?

-- Apples in New England in the fall are wonderful. ::CRUNCH::

Yes. Just had one m'self.

-- This weekend we've got a problem: we've got baseball in Boston in October,

Stop. That, right there: "baseball in Boston in October" - THAT is your problem. October baseball belongs in the Bronx. ::sniff::

Difficult to parse.

I meant the former -- I tell myself I'm going to eat lunch and not work while doing so, but then I end up working and eating at the same time.

I need a full-size Dalek-shaped cozy for our TUG Robots at the hospital. You up to the task?
From: [identity profile] gnomi.livejournal.com
I can see why you'd want such a cozy, yes.

It's so much larger than the 8-inch Dalek for which I have the pattern, I have no clue how I'd scale it. But a small one to sit on top would be doable (though not for a while; I've got a large knitting queue ahead of me already).
From: [identity profile] sethcohen.livejournal.com
Truth is, it'd be tough for you to make such a cozy and not both block the sensors and the cabinet drawers. But it's something to think about. Luckily, there isn't usually enough ice fall inside the hospital to cause them to need such a cozy...

I think it's a common problem for those of us who eat at our desks. There's an instinct to work if one is at one's desk at work.

From: [identity profile] chaos-wrangler.livejournal.com
Part of the problem for me is that I'm supposed to be elsewhere for lunch (i.e. an empty classroom) so/because people who see me at my desk assume they can give me tasks, but sometimes there's no one else available to sit at my desk during my lunch time or I get stuck spending my lunch time doing errands and then have to eat afterwards.
