"calling out"

As in, "I am going to call out sick today."

Either calling out sick or banging out sick; the former is usually used by management: "Dina called out sick today, the wench", the latter by the employee or her peers "Dina banged out sick today, the wench".

I know Dina as Dinah, but yes. :)

Also, I think Obnoxia is an excellent word, but the others win out for WotY.

Oh! Dinah. I didn't put it together, because I think aurally, and I heard "deena" in my head. So I have horribly skewed your results.

what's a wifm?

From: [identity profile] gnomi.livejournal.com
It's bizspeak acronym for "What's in it for me," (http://gnomi.livejournal.com/324272.html) in the context "The wifm for you is..."

Both "Calling In" and "Calling Out" depending on how I feel OR where I am.

More often I "call in" to "call out".

i would've voted for "enpenguined" myself.... but "pornucopia" and "snackquisition" are both really good words.

I hadn't thought to add "enpenguined" to the poll... maybe next year. :-)

If Dina may also be spelled Dinah, then yes, I'm passingly familiar with it. I think.

I call out. So "Calling out". Which I didn't do today, even though I am still unwell. Blah.

"Calling in sick", "Calling out", or "calling off work" are the terms I think I've heard. I've never heard of "banging" or "blowing" in this context.

I have heard of "blowing off work, but that's not generally something you admit to your boss.
