Monday Morning Rambly Bits
Mar. 24th, 2008 10:15 am-- Purim was good, if busy. Megillah at night, then Megillah-seudah-mishloach manot delivery, then Shabbat prep.
-- Friday dinner with
arib's parents and Shabbat lunch with
lucretia_borgia and
sethg_prime removed *some* of the pre-Shabbat crazy, but it always seems like, even when I don't have a ton of Shabbat cooking to do, the amount of prep spreads to fill all available time.
-- Soon I will segue into the pre-Pesach crazy. This year we're not traveling (except to
lcmlc and Abba for the sedarim), so the whole place has to be Pesach-friendly. I will likely start the process this week (I couldn't bring myself to start yesterday, even though that would've been smart).
-- Speaking of Pesach, I said last night to a friend that I had a wish: that Jewish leap years (such as this one) had, instead of Adar I and Adar II, Nissan I and Nissan II. Following the Adar pattern, we'd have Pesach Katan (little Passover) in Nissan I, and the real Pesach would be in Nissan II, thus giving us a whole extra month to do Pesach prep.
-- What did I do instead of Pesach stuff yesterday? I knit. Specifically, I worked on these socks:
-- Relatedly, now that they've been received, I can show off these, which I knit for

Date: 2008-03-24 02:37 pm (UTC)I still think you ought to knit a TARDIS. But that's just me.

Date: 2008-03-24 02:41 pm (UTC)I finished my TARDIS (http://pics.livejournal.com/gnomi/pic/0004hbby/g31) in time for Arisia this year (though it was a close thing; I think I was sewing it together the Wednesday night before Arisia).

Date: 2008-03-24 03:25 pm (UTC)I started cleaning yesterday and I have the sinking feeling that I'm never going to get all the chametz out of the house, let alone the other stuff done. I wish time would expand to fit the tasks.

Date: 2008-03-24 04:51 pm (UTC)I love the fact that, right before Pesach, we declare all leftover chametz null and void. That has kept me from going absolutely crazy. That said, I still clean like a crazy cleaning thing.

Date: 2008-03-24 04:34 pm (UTC)Huh? I don't get it. If we had an extra Nisan instead of an extra Adar, Purim would be a month earlier, but Pesach would still wind up starting on Apr 19. The only benefit I can see is that the grocery stores wouldn't annoy me by starting to sell Pesach items before Purim.
