I've Been Scarce of Late...

...and it's not going to improve much until the last week of October. Jewish holidays are in the middle of the week this year (in order: Tues-Wed, Thurs, Tues-Wed, Tues-Wed), plus there's this legal holiday next week, plus my regular away-ness for Shabbat. So, yeah. Not much time to post. I'll be doing the end-of-NYC-trip reports as soon as I have time.

So I will end off here with one brief anecdote from yesterday. As we were leaving shul for the (two hour!) break between mussaf and mincha, reporteraliza and I saw a guy running *toward* shul carrying a container of salt. He appeared to be in quite a rush. reporteraliza and I briefly speculated on what sort of emergency might require a quick application of salt, but we didn't come up with anything (my best suggestion was sad cow missing its salt lick).

Could be, but he was carrying one of those multi-ounce containers of salt, not just a salt shaker. I couldn't understand needing that much salt all at once on Yom Kippur.

I know what you mean about the holidays!

I slept in the hotel lobby (our Chabad Lubavitch services were at a Marriott hotel) in between Mussaf and Mincha. If I walked the five miles home I would have fainted and fallen off a cliff.

I hope your fast went well. I had a horrible headache toward the end.

We had a long break because I go to a no-nonsense davening on Yom Kippur.

And then we did the fastest ma'ariv *ever* right after the shofar was blown. People wanted to daven, but they wanted to go home and eat, too.
