This week, after two weeks in a row of Shabbat houseguests (waves to [livejournal.com profile] chaos_wrangler, her G, and [livejournal.com profile] lcmlc), we're out for dinner and alone for lunch. The main dish for lunch is already set (yay for broccoli-mushroom-cheddar quiche in my freezer). My main concern is dessert. So, I poll:

[Poll #1359568]

Isn't there really only one person you should be polling? And I'd like both reverse chocolate chip cookie bars and home-made peanut butter cups, but your ticky boxes are broken and will only accept one vote for dessert. :-)

I second that vote! :-)

Hee -- the very first thing I thought upon reading this poll was "Here is a poll where one answer matters more than all the others" *grin*

And I got to vote twice! (I encourage everyone else to vote for my two favorites.)

Wow, this is great! I'd like reverse chocolate chip cookie bars and home-made peanut butter cups as well.

Arrrrggghhhh!!!! I can only choose one dessert.
Curses! I was torn between homemade peanut butter cups and the reverse chocolate chip cookie bars, but went with the former.

Ah well, I suppose you don't want to make too many desserts, or, if nothing else, your sanity will desert you.

Could you post your recipe for homemade peanut butter cups, please?

Apropos of food.... If there were an online diet plan that created two week meal plans along with recipes and shopping lists, and such a site offered a kosher option, do you think that would be A Good Thing?

I would say that was a Very Good Thing, indeed.

I *think* such a thing already exists, but I'm not sure.

Woah. Just did a quick search and found a "kosher diet plan" that wants $299 for the first couple of weeks - and provides the food, presumably. And another one that costs $22.99 per day, with meals delivered.

Didn't see anything that actually helps you plan a diet for weight loss and is kosher. Hmm.

Next poll should be: if manna (the quintessential desert dessert) had tasted like chocolate and/or peanut butter, would the Jews still be wandering happily in the desert going nom nom nom?

Jews would probably be alternating "Nom nom nom" and "why did you take us out of Egypt? We had *better* peanut butter cups *there*!"

I once read an article debating whether manna could taste like non-kosher food, but I don't recall the specifics.

But surely chocolate and/or peanut butter can easily be kosher.

Oh, definitely. I have some of each in my pantry waiting to become peanut butter cups, in fact.

Heee! I think that's more than I have energy to make for this weekend.

Hey! You stole our lunch plan from last week! Except I think we just skipped dessert altogether.

For last Shabbat lunch you took a quiche out of my freezer? I know we got home from shul late, but I think I would've noticed kitchen-related pilfering. ;-)

Tasty, indeed. But not quite right for this Shabbat, I believe.

Since it's just the two of you, I'd say make whatever you'll most enjoy eating.
