Tomorrow night we search for the chametz, and here's where preparations stand:

Tomorrow

-- Kasher sink
-- Cover counter next to sink
-- Wash kitchen floor
-- Search for chametz

[personal profile] mabfan has an event tomorrow night, but what's left I can definitely handle on my own, and we'll search for chametz when he comes home.

I will clean around the sink one more time between the kashering and the covering of the final counter. The cleaning was actually for last night, but since I was moving things all over my planning list I think I forgot to not leave it in both places.

I wait to cover the counter because cleaning the sink is not a neat process and I tend to get water all over the place. If I cover the counter ahead, I have to recover it; if I wait, I can cover it just the once.

I used the OU's guidelines on microwaves:

Wait twenty four hours since using the microwave and make sure that the microwave is clean. One should then heat water in the microwave for twenty minutes and then also pour boiling water over the bottom of the microwave oven. If one cannot pour boiling water over the bottom of the microwave oven, then after heating water for twenty minutes one should move the container to another spot and repeat the heating procedure again. The glass plate should be either covered or replaced for Passover.

(from here (http://oukosher.org/index.php/passover/article/kashering/))

So since I hadn't used the microwave in 24 hours, I did the wash-down of the inside and then kashered it.

You're very welcome! Our shul had extra copies of the OU magazine with all the Pesach prep information this year, so I snagged one and it has been my guide for the things I never remember (like the process of microwave kashering, since I only do it once a year).
