"Conversations" with an Eight Week Old

Scene: Squeaker keeps letting her pacifier fall out of her mouth. gnomi, on whose side of the bed the co-sleeper is located, keeps replacing the pacifier.

gnomi: Squeaker, if you don't turn your head, it will keep falling out. The pacifier, I mean. Not your head. That can't fall out.

Squeaker is getting there. More than once she's dropped it out onto her shoulder and than tried to crane her neck to pick it up with her mouth again. She also is learning to put her hand up to hold it in.

Muffin's better at holding hers in to begin with, so she's not as advanced in retrieving hers.
