WOW, I thought about doing that but you actually did. Bravo. (I am phenomenally sick of the union I haven't belonged to in 8 months pestering the crap out of me.)

I voted a week early and put my "I voted" sticker on my mailbox. Not a single flier or door-to-door person after that!

Did it work?

It did, actually. No one rang our bell after I put the sign out, and I know folks were out canvassing.

Now if only there was a way to do a "we've already voted, so stop calling us" thing on our phone.

It's called turning off the ringer. My father figured that out in 1970 back when turning off the ringer meant disabling the mechanical bell in a phone.

That's a much more dicey prospect when one is job searching and one might get a job-offering-related call. But, yes, we've definitely thought about it.

The plus side is that there is now voicemail.

My father did this right after my older brother was born. A few days later, my father left for work after disabling the ringer because my mother and brother were sleeping. My maternal grandfather called and, getting on answer, panicked and raced over to the house. His banging on the door woke both mother and baby. Neither were amused.
