Date: 2003-10-23 09:54 am (UTC)(why they're listed as being in Framingham but having a Brookline phone number, I don't understand. But there you have it)

Date: 2003-10-24 08:49 am (UTC)Yeah, it's weird - I'm getting e-mail notifications oddly and sporadically, and completely out of order. And only when LJ feels like it.
you misspelled "endure"

Date: 2003-10-23 09:53 am (UTC)(Now you, too, can enjoy the frustrations of Mass drivers :-)

Date: 2003-10-23 09:56 am (UTC)Yeah, Massachusetts drivers - at least in stereotype - are quite a challenge. Thankfully, I don't anticipate having to face them on a daily basis (the T is a very effective means of transportation to and from work).

Date: 2003-10-23 01:53 pm (UTC)Don't dismiss the stereotype. It is at least half the roads' fault (crazy intersections pushing people to take crazy risks), but if you can drive here in January, North America doesn't have much else that will faze you.
Go Nomi.

Date: 2003-10-24 05:09 am (UTC)From what I'm told, Boston driving is unique worldwide, so you're right - I'll be prepared for just about anything.

Date: 2003-10-24 10:07 am (UTC)Oh, geez, I wouldn't go that far. I've never actually driven in Europe, but the cities seem to have many features in common with Boston. And third-world driving is another kettle of fish entirely: unmarked lanes, swarms of suicidal, overloaded motorbikes, optional traffic laws, and the occasional open pit.
North America is probably the generally easiest place in the world to drive -- Boston is just one of the few parts of it that rises to world standards.

Date: 2003-10-24 05:10 am (UTC)As for why it took me this long, it was a question of necessity - for the most part, my daily life has been, since high school, T-centric. But I realized that I was surrendering some of my access to things by not being able to drive, so I'm now attempting to rectify this.

Date: 2003-10-24 05:13 am (UTC)I know a number of people who, like you, have a valid license but never drive. I see myself doing something somewhat similar: I'll have the license and be able to drive as necessary, but my day-to-day commute and the like are most likely to continue to be public-transportation focused.

Date: 2003-10-24 05:14 am (UTC)I'll let you know who I end up going with. It's my plan to, this afternoon, check out the driving school in Coolidge Corner (I think they used to be/still may be part of Garber Auto School), as it's right in our neighborhood.
