We had a nice, relaxing morning this morning, taking time to visit with my mother-in-law, who wasn't working today. After lunch, we headed downtown to The Strand, a very scary bookstore (their motto is "Eight Miles of Books," and they mean it).

After buying some books (not nearly as many as we've bought there in the past), we headed further downtown to see my brother-in-law at his new office, and then headed back uptown for two business meetings, both of which went quite well.

The second business meeting segued into a lovely dinner with friends which lasted until close to 9 PM, at which time we headed back to my mother-in-law's place.

Busy day scheduled for tomorrow; I'll try to report in tomorrow night as to our further adventures in New York.

I went to the Strand once, and I loved it, found some excellent John Erskine novels and thought of Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters while doing so. I love that movie. Did I tell you that I spent a semester at Teachers College, Columbia University? Probably not. It was not my finest hour. Ask me sometime if you want. But I survived living in Manhattan and shopping in Harlem, and that's something.

Thank you for these reports about your adventures. I'm very glad to see them on my friends page. :-)
