Today's stupid-tv-screen-thingy-in-the-office-elevator's poll is:

If you could afford it, would you go on a tourist spaceflight?

My answer: Heck, yes!

A lot of the reason I'm taking scuba lessons is to get over my hangups about not having an atmosphere's worth of breathable air. Save me a seat.

Did you watch _Black Sky_ last weekend on the Discovery Channel? Spaceship One is *not* a safe vehicle. (If you didn't, it's being re-shown tomorrow. Watch it.)

I certainly want to go, but I'd need to think seriously about whether it was worth a 1-10% chance of getting killed. Actually, nobody knows what the chance of getting killed is. The rocket has reached space three times, so it's probably less than 33%, but it's also had a lot of "issues".

Remember, this is for ~15 minutes in space.

I'm not talking about SpaceShip One specifically, but about going into space as a tourist in general...

Unfortunatly, tomorrow night is a Jewish holiday. :(

Well, if you're asking about some unspecified future cheap-and-safe option, the question kind of becomes a version of "who wants to go to Hawaii? free tickets!" Maybe it's a revision of the question Nomi posted, but the interesting version is "would you go on today's technology? if not, where do we have to get to?"

Damn straight I would! (Well, assuming my doctor clears me. There's one potential health issue.)

This is supposed to be a real question???

Yeah, it seems to be real. They've got it up as their daily poll and one can go to their website (www.captivate.com) and vote in said poll. Which I didn't, actually.

Well, you know I applied (unsuccessfully) to the Educator Astronaut program, so you already know my answer.

I'd go even if I couldn't afford it!

Only if I can bring a friend, I haven't had sex in space yet.
