A Blast From the Past, Education-Style
Mar. 22nd, 2005 09:54 amSo, a couple of weeks ago, some of my classmates in the class I'm taking had a chemistry test they were studying for (they were quizzing each other before our class started). Last night, I finally remembered to ask one of them how the test went. Well, he said, he got a base grade of a C. And then there was a grade curve, which brought him up to a B-. And then, he said, Mr. Cunningham pushed everyone's grade up a bit more, so he (my classmate) ended up with a B.
"Wait," I said. "This teacher, Mr. Cunningham...is he, like, older than the hills?"
"Yes," my classmate responded. "He's really old."
"I think I had him when I was in high school," I said. "Not only that, he was my mother's 10th-grade homeroom teacher at Malden High School."
So I sent my classmate back to his next chemistry class with greetings from me to Mr. Cunningham. :-)
Small, small world.
