Odd question for everyone...

So over last weekend, which was the holiday, my parents were staying with us. Through some weird meandering of conversation, it came up that, down in the area where my sister lives (in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC), it is not considered unfashionable to wear white shoes through Columbus Day (here in the Northeast, we've been taught by generations of fashion experts that the season for white shoes is from Memorial Day through Labor Day). And that got me wondering whether the season is elongated for wearing white shoes the further south and/or west one goes from New England.

So...what say you?
