Happy birthday, [profile] oldblackbird!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

-- On Friday and Saturday of last week, we broke high temperature records for Boston for January. Today it's a much more respectable 38 (up from 33 when I first got to the office). For some odd reason, this comforts me.

-- Thank you to all of you who weighed in on my organizational question from Friday. I went with the overwhelming majority (and what had been my main instinct) and got an 8.5x11 3-ring binder and a bunch of the clear plastic sleeves, plus a set of dividers. This will be my pattern notebook, and when I get a chance I may even punch holes in all of my patterns that are currently in folders (organized by project type) and add them to the binder.

-- Again this year we're doing a birthday gathering for me Saturday night at Arisia. Stay tuned for more details.

-- Also Arisia-related: I'm going to be on 4 panels over the course of the weekend. If you're at Arisia and you want to say hi, feel free to track me down before or after a panel.

-- For reasons that I haven't figured out completely, my coworkers failed to eat all the chocolate coins I brought for Chanukah (possibly because of lack of proliferation of the information that they existed). If I put the chocolate in the kitchen, what's the likelihood of them not making it through the day uneaten?

-- Aside from the pattern-a-day calendar, I got a wall calendar for my cube for 2007. It wasn't until I had it up and was discussing dates with my mother about something that I noticed that the calendar grid is set M-Sun instead of the traditional Sun-Sat. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that it's published by a German company (whose name makes me now want some Hamantaschen. But that's neither here nor there).

-- Progress continues apace on various and sundry knitting projects. I'm trying to figure out what to bring to Arisia to knit. I may start a pair of gloves to knit there, because I can knit them without having to refer to the pattern frequently, and that's good for when I'm knitting during panels (last year at both Arisia and Boskone I knit socks). Alternately, I can take my feather-and-fan scarf (knit from baby alpaca yarn and oh, so soft), which is also a pattern I don't have to look at frequently.
