OK, after reading a bunch of OVFF trip reports from friends and friends-of-friends, I'm gonna have to ask: Raise your hand if you saw Becky, Harold, and Aaron Feld at OVFF.

OK, now raise your hand if you knew that Becky Feld is my sister.

Thank you.

Hi! Welcome to my admittedly-bizzare little corner of the Livejournal universe. I'm glad you dropped in.

OVFF is the Ohio Valley Filk Festival, and it was held last weekend.

I'm a linguist-turned-technical-writer in the Boston area.

And, no, I must admit I've never heard of Beck Feld. Please enlighten me.

I hope you stick around; I always like meeting new people.

I hate to be so goy, but please tell me what Filk means. I am making a leap and guessing it might be a Jewish thing. How far off is that?

Actually, filk has nothing to do with Judaism, though I do know a lot of Jews in the Filk community. Filk is the music of science fiction, and it is a subculture unto itself. Those who write and perform filk are known as filkers. Tigerbright (I'd have made this a link, but LJ is picking on me) is a member of the filk community and is one of the memebers of my friends list; she might be able to explain better than I could.
